If I am not mistaken "Status Quo" is a video Slow Joe from Philly put out some time ago. This was my first time seeing this section for myself and its super awesome. Yea ill admit, I've been slackin a lot lately on the site considering we haven't had a new update in the new year yet and its been cold and miserable outside so I haven't had any motivation to do much of anything. However, Mike, Frank, and myself just made a trip out to Ohio this past weekend to meet up with the best people ever aka JBMX and Zach Ward. It was an awesome time as always, we rode a park called evo on Friday night than rode Rays from open to close (thanks to frank for waking us up at 7am). We rented a GoPro camera when we were there and got a few clips with it, which frank should be making a little edit with in the near future, I also manage to take a couple photos so check them out after the jump! Big thanks to Johnny for letting us stay at his house! And thanks to everyone else who made this trip a great time!

Bangs is at it again! He came out with this bangin' new video a couple of days ago and its not quiet as primitive as his last hit singe ,"Take you to da movies". This video actually has video clips, instead of him standing in one spot and having a sideshow of googled pictures played behind him. Maybe is this the start of a real carrier? Maybe he will drop a full album? No one knows for sure but we can only hope so.

A New Update?

Yup that's right. Since Mike Carni has gone into hibernation for the winter and has decided to play Xbox for the next 2 months, I (Jon Nemecek) will attempt to update the site for a while. I actually saw mike today for the first time in a few weeks and he showed me how to do a few things. We put my photo stream from flickr on the right, so you guys can check that out if you want.

This above edit was filmed in about an hour at Steve Kay's favorite spot. We were bored and decided to take out the camera. Its kind of a test run for me, since i have never edited or filmed a video before, even though this ones not serious at all. Let me know what you think! Stay tuned for more to come!

Pre-Jam Jam at The Rookie Ramp

Earlier today Frank and myself shot over to Jons house to check out and help with some finishing touches on the ramp. Shortly after Frank finished doing some paint touch ups Jon and George sent out a distress signal and minions began to assemble in the yard almost immediately. After some landscaping and some other little touches here and there it was only a matter of time before the bikes came out.

I figured I would get out there for a little stretch, do a few airs and take it easy but the minions had other ideas. Some of the smaller minions were a little timid but once the elders got to work it was like a feeding frenzy on a fresh carcass. The session turned into what seemed like a pre-jam jam! Jon shot a few photos and sent me a handful. You know the drill, check em' after the jump!

Heroes Of Dirt

I got a call Friday evening from Chris Hald wondering if I wanted to go check out a dirt jumping contest being held in Allentown PA. He had gotten a call from FBM legend Dave King asking if Chris would be interested in announcing the event. Neither of us knew very much about the event but it sounded like a good time. The lack of information only sparked our interest furthermore. From what we could tell it was a dirt jumping contest that was also going to be part of an actual movie production.

The Heroes Of Dirt contest was a trail style dirt contest built by the Catty Wood's locals at Canal Park in Allentown PA. The contest was also to be featured in the independent film titled Accelerate. Showing up early for practice it was apparent by the showing of riders that this was going to be a fun event. Editor in chief of RideBMX, and Long Island legend Keith Mulligan was in the house as well as the likes of Van Homan, Big Daddy, Brian Foster and many other trail assassins.

Accelerate is a sequel of sorts to the epic BMX film Rad where Bill Allen (who played Cru Jones in Rad) is the father of an aspiring rider played by Austin Texas shredder Joel Moody. Chris being the announcer of the event received some shine time in front of the cameras which hopefully makes the final cut. The rest of the crowd got to be background extras. All in all the even was a great time with great riding. The city may also allow the jumps to remain with the exception of the last jump, to be ridden by the public. The contest may also turn into an annual event that I would most definitely recommend checking out.

Ramp Session

Yesterday a few of us hit up Jons new ramp to test it out and find the quirks we may need to fix. These may be the first photos you are seeing of the ramp so you may not notice the upgrades already. George and his minions added a railing to the main deck and a test-fit piece of coping. I wasn't at the ramp today but my sources have told me a staircase and larger wallride were being fitted. Jonny is just starting to heal his separated shoulder so he snapped some photos of us riding. Check below for the rest!

Regardless of the worldwide sightings, videos like this lead me to believe he may be living among us. The next time you go to take out the trash and hear a rustling in the bushes, you might want to give second thought to investigation. Read on to stimulate your mind...

A Google search for "Long Island Sasquatch" returned some fascinating results. This is a small paragraph taken from cryptomundo.com (click the link) where you can find the rest of the story.

"On December 7, 1974, Frank Piztolato and Phillip Vivolo were in the woods near Historic Richmond Town when they "saw a black, upright ‘bear’ which roared at them." A few weeks later, on the morning of January 21, 1975, a young couple "saw Bigfoot in a church car park in the early morning" and later that night, Mrs. D. Daly was "driving late at night [and] had to brake to avoid a Bigfoot under six feet tall crossing the road from a church car park and heading for the rubbish dump and the swamp behind the church."

This post is entirely BMX related. The justification of such content is to directly inject fun and laughter into your souls, which is to transcend into your riding.

I made a few more changes to the site today. Most of them are pretty subtle but most notable changes are an updated video page with a new video widget. You are able to scroll through the videos manually, or the player will automatically cycle through them. When there is a video you wish to watch, simply click the play button on the thumbnail. I have also added the "continue reading" feature that you will find at the bottom of this very post. Instead of clogging up the main page with tons of photos and other content, they will be neatly stored inside each post. Simply click the "continue reading" button at the bottom of the post to do exactly that.

With that being said Steve Kay is currently in Vegas with the LIB crew at Interbike 2010. I stole two photos from his facebook. He will have stories to tell... Check em' out below!

New Layout and Design

I have been doing some work to the overall layout and design of the blog. My goal is to keep it fresh and keep it functional. I suppose this post itself constitutes as "fresh" considering its the first activity in seven months.
I have implemented a new video page which will feature Rookie related videos. Instead of hunting around the blog and the internet, all the new and featured videos will be posted there. I have also added a YouTube video of the week that I will update, you guessed it, weekly. The internet has so many funny, interesting, and overall entertaining videos that I felt this is a must have.
Over the next few days I will probably be toying with and changing the layout some more. I have some more news and such coming up these next few days so come back before the next seven month hiatus!

Max Trunz recently uploaded a section from his most recent full length "Effin Four." Unfortunately I was unable to make it to the premiere so I am really excited to see some of the footage. This section was super dope.

Philly Trip

Our one day trip to Philly has come and gone and it was a blast as usual. We had a great crew and great times. After departing from home base we made a quick stop to pick up some road beverages. Before even reaching southern state we saw some dude laying face down in the grass next to his motorcycle on the side of 109. Sometime during our voyage south we pulled the convoy over to relieve our bulging bellies. I was the first to exit the tonka truck and wander ankle deep into some swamp. Enve followed me. We both had wet feet for a while. We made it to FDR just before sun up. Once the fireball decided to wake up we were greeted with a nice scenic view of the fog and frost covering our surroundings outside of the park, and my personal favorite view of the skyline right above the big 'ole over-vert bowl corner. Not too long into the session Rafferty blew one of his crankarms off because hes a savage. I am not going to go into spot to spot detail but rather just speak of some of the more note worthy memories. A cat we saw walking around near the ghetto banks was dead in front of our cars when we were leaving. Rafferty killed every spot all day on everyone elses bikes. He nose manualed the entire flat bottom of the mini ramp at FDR. He also did a candybar over three girls. We did some filming for Scrap 3 which should be coming your way in the near future. I have brakes on my bike. I am not going to tell you anything else. If you missed this trip you should be jealous. Here are some photos courtesy of Jonny.

Those are two things that you will basically never see here. If your looking for great times and great friends you've come to the right place. So i'll fill you in on what you missed. For those of you who weren't there, we had a Rookie jam at Jon's house. Obviously we didn't prepare so all of the building was done in two days. But needless to say... just like every jam... it was a blast. (pics soon to follow).

On a side note ive been messing with editing. I took a bunch of scrap clips from Mike and made a little edit. Properly named 'Scrap 2'. Scrap 1 was just me trying to learn the ropes. So pretty much it sucked. I liked how the second one came out so I decided to toss it up on here.

Get A Little Twisted

First off the Panamoka Jam has been moved to Sunday instead of Saturday. Yesterday Frank, Johnny, Chris "lack of a stasche" Rafferty, Maria, and myself ventured to Jersey. We left pretty late and hit a bit of traffic. We showed up at Sayreville with about an hour of light left outside. We rode our bikes and then went to WaWa. Immediately after WaWa Frank and myself went directly next door and purchased some Twisted Teas. We packed up the "cooler" and went back to the park and got twisted in more ways than one. We left and hit even worse traffic right off the bat. We had an old school sing along party in the tonka truck for three hours or so until we got home. Just in time for me to sleep an hour and a half before work. It was endless fun. Johnny is slacking and hasn't sent me his photos yet but here's two from me for now.

Back By Popular Demand

Due to popular demand we are back in action. Hiatus after hiatus we always come back. I know better than to make you any promises so enjoy whatever comes of this. As you can obviously tell I changed the site up a little bit. Nothing crazy but it will do for now. Blogspot is pretty limited in what you can do so I might even switch this thing over to Wordpress. Might even buy a domain again. Remember, no promises! Rather than sum up the past four months lets just start at present day.

I came across this trailer for Effin Four yesterday while surfing the internet. There might be one or two of you reading this who even remember the Effin videos. If you have no idea what any of this is about just get excited because this video is going to rule.

There is a trail jam this coming Saturday at Panamoka. I am really late with this news since it was supposed to happen this past Saturday but it was rained out. From what I hear Doyle and Foster are coming through so it should be a good time. Here is some further information straight from the video description:

"Panamoka locals are throwing a Jam on the 17th of October 2009. The jam will have raffles to win big prizes and with the list of sponsors it looks as though the prizes will be amazing. Now I have a very important announcement to make. This will be the final post on the Rookie blog. Shocked? Heartbroken? Happy? With deep regret I must inform you of the death of Rookie in this anti climatic blog post. After turning six years old last month I decided it was time to bury the dead. There will be no other eulogy, no final jam, just the end. Just kidding! First Greenport Session Of The Season

Yesterday a few of us made our first trip out to Greenport since the LIB Aitken Jam in November. I remember all of us saying that would be the last time we ride it until next year when it warms up. Such was the case until yesterday when It was nearly seventy degrees but the park was covered in puddles and melted snow.Its funny how in the same week we can get sixteen inches of snow dumped on us, and by the end of the week be riding outside in t-shirts. Definitely a good sign of things to come!

The story goes as follows. Many moons ago I came across a game called "The Immigrant Game" Your this little Mexican guy riding a bike through the desert trying to get to America while cops try to run you over.
It was the dead of winter and I ended up getting really addicted to the game. Since theres actually no way to beat it besides to get the highest score you possible can, my ultimate goal was to make it onto the high scores list. After countless days, nights, weeks, and now years, I never made it.
Saturday January 15th, 2005 at 6:41 in the morning I came as close as I ever would. The high score list is 10 places long. The lowest score in the high score list is 16,720 points. On that dreadful morning I scored 16,152. A measly 568 points shy of reaching my goal. Now once you play that game you will understand that 568 points is only five cop car crashes and a few seconds of sprinting.
I stoped playing the game some time ago and out of shear boredom one night I revisited the site. My arch nemesis MAJED 2002 still retains the tenth and final spot on the high score chart. I am still determined to take my seat on the throne! I am proposing a challenge to all of you to take out MAJED 2002! I will reward you with never ending treasure. I am mainly looking at you Johnny Tsunami! Winter is here so when your stuck inside wishing you could ride, mount the El Emigrante bike and take out MAJED!

Its November and winter is on its way. Tomorrow November 2nd, is a trails jam out east at Jay's trails. The address is as follows: 1054 Sipp Ave Medford NY, 11763. The trails are located in the woods directly next to that address. The jam is running 11am-dark so go check it out if you can! KMR and Maria just got back from a week long trip in San Fransisco with The Come Up. KMR sent through some random point and shoots he took while he wasn't moonwalking with homeless dudes.

-This is a rare sighting that only a few humans have ever been able to see. This is the first time o film a male squirrel was documented mating with a tree branch.

-Many locals were shocked to realize when they tried to plug in their electronics the outlets didn't work. Therefore the town installed the sign.

NEWS!
There is no new information in regards to our jam as the details still dance in the sky. Although there may be a jam at the Greenport skatepark on July 14th. I have just learned of the vague details last night so i'll let you know more as I learn more. Keith Romanowski AKA KMR is out on The Come Up DVD roadtrip documenting the action through his soul catcher. Gabe has returned from his two week adventure in Spain and will hopefully be sharing his tale with you in the future. Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure!

First Off
If you are not prepared to read quite a bit you might as well close this now. Its been some time since we have last communicated. Ninety nine days to be exact. RookieBMX.com went down on March 25th, our fourth birthday. We did not die on that day, rather slipped into hibernation. After all you can't kill what doesn't die!

News!
We last left you off with news of the jams cancellation. You may be excited to learn that there may be another one coming soon. Some of you semi long time Rookie faithfuls may have attended prior Rookie jams in the past. Some of you may remember several of them were held in celebration of the birth of yours truly. Pending some details we may be having one the weekend of the 14th and 15th of July. I don't wish to speak too much about it just yet, but you might want to keep your calender clear.

Vintage Video Four!

To continue on with our vintage video series I do in fact have another treat for you. This video has not been seen by you in a very long time. Thats if you have ever seen it at all. Some of you may check out our YouTube channel (which has recently been updated) from time to time to see our videos. Well, this one hasn't even been uploaded there until today. This clip first saw the light of day in late January of 2005. It was filmed and edited for a series we used to do on the site called the "Creature Feature". The Creature Feature was a page dedicated to one of our close friends we would ride with that included a short interview, some photos, and of course a video. The following video is the Creature Feature for our good friend Tony Gulino. He is probably pissed that your watching this and I encourage you all to flood his Myspace with comments that read "lol." You may also notice the progression in my filming and editing but still remaining quite terrible at that point. Enjoy!
